On a clean Windows 11 24h2 installation, the startup sound is played when shutting down, nothing on startup. Installation was without errors, latest drivers and updates. System is Dell G15 5530. Checked the sound settings, a temporary workaround was to uncheck and then check back "Play Windows startup sound" but the problem occurred again by itself after a while.

I'm Sumit, here to answer your query at the Microsoft Community.
Apologies for any inconvenience you are experiencing. We are happy to help you.
I have heard some cases of the same I believe.
If you save the Sound scheme using Save as, and then toggle to Windows defauly, does that help you?
I am eagerly awaiting your response and am committed to working with you until we reach a resolution.

I've got the same problem on my new Dell G15 5530. I tried asking to Microsoft Copilot and it said to go into the registry editor in here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\WindowsLogon
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\WindowsLogoff
You have to change value to 0 in "ExcludeFromCPL"
After a restart it worked perfectly fine as normal.
Hope it helps.

Right now 23H2 is the better choice.
My first solution with editing registry values worked fine for a few days, but now it doesn't work anymore. It works again only if I do a full restart but only for one time.
I've got a lot of computers with a lot of different Windows OS starting from Windows 95, and even my custom retro PC with Windows ME has way less problems than Windows 11. Honestly Windows 11 is rubbish.

Since I got the features update 4 days ago. My games are also glitching since I got this update. The registry edit fix above fixed it for me.
