Standard SATA AHCI Controller with yellow exclamation after update to 1903

I've just updated to 1903 from 1809 and now I have

Standard SATA AHCI Controller with yellow exclamation sign in device manager. This device was migrated.

Device PCI\VEN_1101&DEV_1622&SUBSYS_34147237&REV_01\3&11583659&0&10 had a problem starting.

Driver Name: mshdc.inf
Class Guid: {4d36e96a-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318}
Service: storahci
Lower Filters:
Upper Filters:
Problem: 0xA
Problem Status: 0xC00000C2

Actually I don't have this SATA controller on my machine and I can disable it.

As all of my SSDs (2), HDDs (3) connected to Intel SATA Controller and DVD-RW (only 1 but connected to Marvell SATA Controller) work properly I suppose that this is just a cosmetic issue (anything improperly migrated during the update process).

How can I remove it from my system. It will always show up in device manager after restart even if I uninstall it.

Hi SPP. I"m Greg, an installation specialist, 9 year Windows MVP and Independent Advisor, here to help you.

Did you try the latest driver for that controller for WIndows 8.1 from MS Update catalog here: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search...

Try also running Update Driver > Automatically from Device Manager.

Also expediate all Windows Updates until no more are offered when you go back to check again after restart.

Generally if it's in the Device Manager it has hardware onboard that requires it. If nothing else finds it I would even run Driver Max for it's one free driver a day to see what it finds. This is always my last resort, and more than half the time it works.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted. If you'll wait to rate whether my post helped you, I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

I've tried all of your suggestions but no success. There are no drivers found for this device. The one from the MS catalog is not suitable either.
Thanks.

Hi,

Can you provide the following information which may help determine any issue(s):

Windows Key + R > type msinfo32 in the "Open" box  > OK > File > Save > then save as an .nfo file

Then make the resulting .nfo file available via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site.

Also, can you do the following:

Windows Key + R > type eventvwr in the "Open" box > OK > expand "Custom Views" and then right-click "Administrative Events" > select "Save all events in Custom View As" and save as an .evtx file

Then make the resulting .evtx file available via a public folder on OneDrive or similar site.

Here's a link on using OneDrive:

@auggy

Is it safe to make all of this information public. Isn't it better/safer to send it to a support email.

Hello, I have the same problem.

My PC specs are:

Motherboard

- Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H

- BIOS: F16 (Updated right now, I had the sam problem with F15)

Video Card

- AMD Radeon HD 7850

RAM

- 16 GB

SSD

- 1 x SSD Crucial BX500 240 GB

- 1 x SSD Crucial BX500 960 GB

Both of them connected on the GSATA ports

I tried changing the SATA ports, I tried to keep connected only the System SSD, I reinstalled Windows several times.

What can I do?

Best regards,

Emanuele

EDIT: I didn't say a thing: in my case the Hardware ID is: PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1E02&SUBSYS_B0051458&REV_04\3&11583659&0&FA but the GUID Class (? is it right? in italian it's "Classe GUID") it's {4d36e96a-e325-11ce-bfc1-08002be10318} like sppmaster.

How can I remove it from my system. It will always show up in device manager after restart even if I uninstall it.

Perform the steps to Fix issue with Sata Driver :-

a. Press Windows + X.

b. Select Device manager.

  1. Here, right click on SATA ACHI controller and select Properties on the context menu.
  2. Henceforth tap Driver tab subsequently press Update Driver button.

Now Perform the steps below to check if ACHI is enabled properly.

a. Press Windows + X.

b. Select Device manager.

c. Click the arrow next to "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" to display the list of controller drivers currently used by your system.

d. Check for an entry that contains the acronym "AHCI." If an entry exists, and there is no yellow exclamation mark or red "X" over it, then AHCI mode is properly enabled. If
you don't see an "AHCI" entry, or the only entry contains a red or yellow mark, then there's a problem and AHCI mode is not properly enabled.

Thank You,

Sanghati
