Missing files - Error code 800F0A13 when trying to install Windows 7 SP1

original title: I am getting error code 800F0A13 when trying to install Windows 7 SP1.  What do I do?

All my research indicates this has something to do with missing files and that I should replace those files.  The problem is, I have a pre-installed version on a brand new computer and I don't have a physical disc.  Any ideas?

Here is the pasted details of the failed install:

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 for x64-based Systems (KB976932)

Installation date: ‎4/‎22/‎2011 3:06 AM

Installation status: Failed

Error details: Code 800F0A13

Update type: Important

Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 - Contains all previously released updates. See release documentation for more details.

Hi,

Follow these steps and check if they help.

Step 1: Run the system file checker tool.

Check the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833    “How to use the System File Checker tool to troubleshoot missing or corrupted system files on Windows Vista or on Windows 7”

Step 2: Run the System Update Readiness Tool again. If the errors have been cleared, try installing Service Pack 1 again.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821

If not, move to step 3.

Step 3: Perform a Startup Repair, upon startup, try installing the Service Pack.

Thank you for the response.  I went through these steps and unfortunately, it did not change the problem.  I still get the same error, also saying that I have missing or corrupt files.

I followed these steps and I still have the same error.  Also, I've read that some people copied files from the Win 7 intall disk.  Unfortuntely I only have recovery DVDs and I don't believe this will work for me.  Can anyone help???

I have the same problem in addition to blue screen.  I've tried to download and install the hotfix from Microsoft, it will not take it.  The Windows 7 SP1 is listed in the Windows Update but won't install it, I received Code 800F0A13.  Microsoft Mr. Fix it did not fix anything either.

Does someone have a solution?  I would appreciate.
