Lord Of The Rings Battle For Middle Earth II

To whom it may concern,

One of my all time favourite computer game was Lord of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth II, so today I said let me get it back on my pc so I found my game disks and I started to install them, Installation complete.

Due to the fact that the games are original it requires DVD to run. So when I clicked play I heard a warning chime and a message popped up, stating that the DVD cannot be located. now keep in mind that the game already got installed.

Please help me to re-live my childhood memories, what can I do so that I could run the game and play it?

P.S. Microsoft well done on re -booting Age of Empires collections

Thanks and hopefully I will receive a reply

Jean

Lord of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth II [EDIT: is compatible with Win10, but] is, unfortunately, yet another of many  disc based games

that use SafeDisk copy protection.

With the advent of Win10 MS decided to block the driver - secdrv.sy - used by SafeDisk.

The reason given is that secdrv.sys is theoretically open to attack (has not happened to date)

More details in my post at  ---this thread---

[EDIT: I am able to run LOTR Return of the King (3 yrs older than BME2) without using any compatibility with older Windows options.

This game also uses SafeDisk. ]

- Short story... You will need to use a noCD fix\hack to run this or any SafeDisk game.

It would be best to also patch the game (unless your game is a re-release which has been pre-patched).

I don't know if the 1.06 patch is cumulative, but you will find out soon enough, as you will get an error if

you need to install earlier patches first.

Then download the fix that suits the version you have patched the game to.

Using a noCD circumvents the disc check, which allows you to run the game without having the disc in the drive.

- Option 2 (not as safe as a noCD, imo, as this allows the secdrv.sys driver to activate), is to use

Download Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider - MajorGeeks

This should allow the game to launch using the disc.

Hello Jean,
I am Jaspreet Singh an independent advisor.
Unfortunately LOTRbattle for middle earth 2 uses cd-checks and these games are not compatible with windows 10.
However users have been able to run it via multiple workaround methods depending on the type of system they had all of which are listed here : https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...

Please have a look at the steps they followed and hopefully you should be able to play the game. I wish you best of luck.
