Lord of The Rings Battle for Middle Earth II
[EDIT: is compatible with Win10, but] is, unfortunately, yet another of many disc based games
that use SafeDisk copy protection.
With the advent of Win10 MS decided to block the driver - secdrv.sy - used by SafeDisk.
The reason given is that secdrv.sys is theoretically open to attack (has not happened to date)
More details in my post at
---this thread---
[EDIT: I am able to run LOTR Return of the King (3 yrs older than BME2) without using any compatibility with older Windows options.
This game also uses SafeDisk. ]
- Short story... You will need to use a noCD fix\hack to run this or any SafeDisk game.
It would be best to also patch the game (unless your game is a re-release which has been pre-patched).
I don't know if the 1.06 patch is cumulative, but you will find out soon enough, as you will get an error if
you need to install earlier patches first.
Then download the fix that suits the version you have patched the game to.
Using a noCD circumvents the disc check, which allows you to run the game without having the disc in the drive.

- Option 2 (not as safe as a noCD, imo, as this allows the secdrv.sys driver to activate), is to use
Download Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider - MajorGeeks
This should allow the game to launch using the disc.
