Lenovo laptop battery is not charging - status is at 58% (plugged in, not charging).

* Original Title: Plugged in, not charging

I have a new Lenovo laptop (3 months old) with Windows 8.1.  This week the battery is not charging - status is at 58% (plugged in, not charging).  I have run every diagnostic that I can find and everything seems to be functioning properly.  I have searched the internet and this seems to be a common problem with Windows 7 and Windows 8.  The AC power is fine as the computer works with the battery removed (it also works with just the battery but unless I can recharge that will not last long).  Many forums on the internet recommend uninstalling ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery which I tired, but it re-installs upon re-boot.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I would suggest you toinstall Power Management Driver and check if it fixes the issue.

Here are the steps to install the drivers:

1. Go to http://support.lenovo.com , click "Drivers and Downloads" and select your product.

2. Download the Power Management Driver (Lenovo Energy Management).

3. Install the exe file to your laptop.

4. Restart the computer.

5. It will take effect after restarting the computer.

You may also install the BIOS updates, refer to the link and check if it helps.

Note: Modifying BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
