Are you running build 1809? If not, I advise running Windows Update > Scan for update several times to ensure you have updated to the current build.
1. Run these scans then verify if the issue is resolved.
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/for...?
2. Run Keyboard Troubleshooter
Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot
Scroll down to Keyboard and run the troubleshooter
3. Re-install the app
Right Click on Start > Select PowerShell (Admin)
Copy/paste the following into the window then press Enter.
Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Once the command finishes executing, reboot the system then retry onscreen keyboard.
4. Run Windows Update > Scan for Updates

Hello Kapil
I've read the information on the link you provided. Since this and other recommendations are a bit beyond my Windows troubleshooting confidence level I set up an appointment at the Microsoft store and take your information with me. I suspect that there may have been a recent update to Windows that caused this problem because in the 9 years I've used the Microsoft keyboard I've never had a problem and now the "num lock' function dpesn't work on either of my devices both running Windows 10.
Thanks

Thank you for your reply. I tried troubleshooting based on recommendations in the link you provided. Unfortunately my Num Lock function still doesn't work. I suspect this is Windows related so will go to the Microsoft Store for technical support.

thank you Andre As I do not feel confident in going through the steps outlined in the articles from the links you provided I decided to go to a Microsoft store for assistance as it appears that this problem which just happened must be related to Windows settings...maybe after an update was run/installed.
