How can I correct the birthdate of a child on a Microsoft account

About a month ago I tried to buy an Xbox Music Pass for my 10 year-old daughter.  There was a problem with the adult confirmations that prevented a purchase.  While on the phone with tech support, I changed the birthdate of my daughter to make her appear to be an adult.  This allowed me to purchase the music pass.

I then tried to change the birthdate of my daughter back to her correct date.  I could change it to any date that indicated she was an adult, but when I tried to set it to the correct date, I received a message telling me that I could not set 'my' birthdate to that of a child.

I've spoken to tech support numerous times, but they can't seem to grasp the problem.  They frequently tell me that it's impossible to change the birthdate at all or get confused and thing that I'm talking about an Xbox gamer tag.

I have a 10 year-old who's accounts are no longer properly configured as a child, and I fear that she's not being protected.

Sadly, this doesn't work.  Since Microsoft now thinks that my daughter is actually an adult, she does not show up under "Kid's Accounts" as one would expect.  Under family safety, she's still listed as a child, and I can still manage put restrictions on her, but it doesn't work everywhere unless she has a birthdate that indicates she's under 18.

Hi,

If your child is using a Microsoft account, then you can ask your child to log into https://login.live.com/ and then click on ‘Personal info’ on the left pane and then try changing the birthdate. Try this and let us know the results for further assistance.

Cheers,
Ben.

As I noted above, it will let me change the date (when logged in as her), but it will not let me change it to the correct date.  See below for the response (in red).

I believe you would need to actually contact support for this, if it is in fact possible.  Or you could create a new correctly birthed account. :\

I agree.  Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find a group that actually handles this type of thing.  I've been working with the XBox group (since this problem was created while buying an XBox music pass), however, they simply don't understand the issue.  Anyone know of a number customer support that might be helpful?  I would think that Family Safety would be a good place to start.

I hadn't because that process specifically lists the process for converting a child account into an adult account, and I want the reverse.  Although, in thinking about it, they're at least closer to what I need.  I'll try it.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I am having the exact same issue.  Support is worse than clueless.   I'm about to just create a new account but would rather not have to do that.
