Correct password, can't log in

I tried to log in to my Windiws 7 computer. I put in my password, the same one I had always put in, but it said it was incorrect. I put the password in again, making sure it was spelled correctly, but it still didn't work.

EDIT: I may have changed my password recently, but had forgot that I did so. Also, as I stated below, when I boot the system in safe mode, no Administrator account is available. It automatically takes me to the login for my account.

If the computer will not accept your current password try the follow:
Start/run and enter:  control userpasswords2 or just press the WIN+R keys to envoke the RUN option.

The user accounts window will now be displayed, there is an optionnamed "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Next un-check this option and click the 'OK' button.

windows will then ask you to enter your password that you used to log on with. Enter your password and verify.

Reboot the computer.

Also:
Reboot to Safe Mode:
During the inital boot (after you first power up the computer) repeatedly press the F8 key multiple times (after the startup logo and before Windows 7 starts loading).

There will be at least 2 user accounts listed on the Safe Mode screen, one will be the account name you created plus a second user account named 'Administrator' which is the defualt/built-in Administrator account.

Normally the 'Administrator' account has no password (blank). Try to logon using the built in 'Administrator' account.

Now click 'Start/Control Panel/User Accounts' and change your password.
Finally reboot and logon using your regular account name.

I booted the system in safe mode, but the Administrator account is not visible. It automatically took me to the logon screen for my own account.

Hi,

And you can't make a Password reset disk for that account if you can not sign into it.

You make a Password Reset disk before you are locked out, not afterwards.

You will have to borrow a Microsoft DVD from a friend,  as a Manufacturer's Recovery DVD does not have these particular working options available.

Or:

You could create it on another computer to use on your computer."

If you cannot log on to Windows 7 or Windows Vista, you can use the Windows Vista System Restore feature, or the Windows 7 System Restore feature.

You may be unable to log on to Windows Vista or Windows 7 in the following scenarios:

    • Scenario 1: You recently set a new password for the protected administrator account. However, you do not remember the password.
    • Scenario 2: You type the correct logon password. However, Windows Vista or Windows 7 does not accept the password because the system is corrupted.
    • Scenario 3: You delete a protected administrator account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.
    • Scenario 4: You change a protected administrator account to a standard user account. Now, you cannot log on to another administrator account.

    Cheers.
