If the computer will not accept your current password try the follow:
Start/run and enter: control userpasswords2 or just press the WIN+R keys to envoke the RUN option.
The user accounts window will now be displayed, there is an optionnamed "User must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Next un-check this option and click the 'OK' button.
windows will then ask you to enter your password that you used to log on with. Enter your password and verify.
Reboot the computer.

Reboot to Safe Mode:
During the inital boot (after you first power up the computer) repeatedly press the F8 key multiple times (after the startup logo and before Windows 7 starts loading).
There will be at least 2 user accounts listed on the Safe Mode screen, one will be the account name you created plus a second user account named 'Administrator' which is the defualt/built-in Administrator account.
Normally the 'Administrator' account has no password (blank). Try to logon using the built in 'Administrator' account.
Now click 'Start/Control Panel/User Accounts' and change your password.
Finally reboot and logon using your regular account name.
