Surface RT Windows Store App Download

Hi, every time I attempt to install an app on my surface rt from the windows store I get an error about the internet connection being too slow. From my research this is a common problem but every suggestion I have found does not resolve the problem. Before I go back to Apple, my question is can this actually be resolved or am I stuck with a surface with just the default apps.? I bought it to test how I got on with it before buying a new one. So far I like it a lot but do need to see how the store works etc.

Thanks all in advance!

what exactly have you tried? this issue is typically caused by having the wrong
time/time zone/region, etc. configured or even by using your Surface in a non
supported country.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Ive tried just about everything i can find! Wsreset.exe, uninstalling antivirus software, etc etc.

Just was hoping there would be an obvious answer to this. I've been told by some it's not possible and I've been told by some it's worked for them! Confused!

You cannot install 3rd party anti virus software on Surface RT. So this makes no
sense.

You need to give us the complete list of everything you have tried. You didn't
answer my question about time, time zone, etc. either.

I got told to disable Defender.

Time zone looks set to be correct.

I have tried everything on page one of this search. .

https://www.google.com/search?q=can%27t+install+app+windows+surface+internet+too+slow&oq=can&aqs=chrome.0.69i59l2j69i57j35i39j69i60j69i61.1979j0j9&client=ms-android-sonymobile&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8

Sorry, im out at the moment so can't be any more detailed but the above link kind of gets the gist of the problem and what I've tried to resolve it.

Thanks again

Paul

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. I have tried this and unfortunately I have tried this but to no avail.

I've decided now that I will return to Apple computers as they, by comparison, are far superior than any Windows operated machines that I have tried.

Apple computers just seem to work and I don't have to spend my time searching on the internet as to why things won't work or install.

I appreciate that Windows machine are suitable for some people but unfortunately I don't have time to waste researching error messages.

Thanks again,

Paul

I've experience the same problem and I did a total recovery and it fixed the apps down loaded great until I did some updates and then it stop me from down loading apps again. So I think that one of the updates is causing the problem.

After more than a week of no joy in connecting my old Surface 2 to the MS Store after wiping my tablet O/S and reinstalling 8.1 and the 300 updates, I was finally able to restore full functionality by doing the following:

I clicked on the XBox Games icon from the tablet start menu (it is green box and has a white game controller outline).  I logged into my MS account in the MS Xbox App (or was redirected via browser to xbox.com - I don't remember which).  After logging into my MS account at xbox.com, my MS Store was able to be accessed fully and I downloaded the 7 games I was wanting restored onto my tablet.

Hope this works for others, I was all but resigned to retiring my old Surface 2 but it is now working perfectly for the simple old games I wanted to run on it.  :)
