Surface RT will not turn on, black screen

Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention. Please try the following and let me know what happens:
1. Attach the Power Supply to the device.
2. Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds.
3. Repeatedly press and hold the power button for 1/2 second before releasing, wait a few seconds to see if the Surface boots up, if it does not, repeat the process.
Let me know what happens.

Please try the following:
To ensure its really off… hold power for 10 seconds.
Connect to power, ensure LED is lit.
TAP the power button to turn it on and wait a few seconds to give the Surface logo a chance to show up.
Try tapping and waiting 5-10 seconds in between taps.
If your surface does not power on after trying these steps, please contact Surface Technical Support at http://www.microsoft.com/surface/support/contact-us/
