EDIT: To let everyone know that I may have found a solution on Adobe's forums after all.  My computer was missing the folders under AppData mentioned there: https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1823872 Also turned off the preview pane (which is annoying... I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet. The screen of the 8 pro often doesnt turn on after pressing the power button (to get it out of sleep) or after pressing the windows button.
