Unknown email address claiming to be from the Administration Team

Original title: Unknown email address claiming to be from the Administration Team, subject ID: 133 - Account Alert!

I had an e-mail which claims to be from the Email Server Administration Team (*** Email address is removed for privacy ***) asking me to click on a live.com link to verify my account. My filters have blocked the content of this email so I need to know if it is actually from Microsoft or not?

Here is the link below as I have copied/pasted:

Hi,

I apologize for the delayed response. The email you received is not legit and definitely a phishing email. Please do not disclose any information or reply to that email.

To verify if the e-mail you received is a legitimate message from Windows Live Hotmail Support, go to this link.

How to recognize if the email I have received is genuine or spam/ phishing?

Keep in mind that Windows Live Hotmail support professionals never ask you for your current password, either over the phone or through an e-mail message. Microsoft support team also doesn’t ask users to forward messages or send you chain letters.

If you need further assistance, please let us know by replying to this post.

Thanks!

    Hi Constructora Esquivelde Red,

We strongly believe that the email that you are referring to is a phishing email. Your account will be compromise/hacked or hijacked if you reply to these kinds of emails. The message you have received is a phishing scam. The real Microsoft Support Team will never request password or any other personal information via email or IM.

Here are some things you can do to help your account more secure:

    •Create a strong password

•Add security information to your account

•Don't sign in from a computer you don't trust

    •Don't share your password

    Hi melm151805,

We appreciate your time posting in Microsoft Community. If the email you received asks for your username, password or any other personal information and threatens you that your account will be closed if just in case you won't give it, please do not reply to these kinds of emails. This is for the security purposes of your account.

Please take note that the real Microsoft Support Team will never do it. This email is surely a phishing email which is designed by hackers to gain access to your account. This is for them to use it for their own purposes.
