Microsoft Account Security Alert Email - Is this real?

I received the below email from what I believe to be MS...is this one actually true or another scam?

We think that someone else might have accessed the Microsoft account pg*****@gmail.com. When this happens, we require you to verify your identity with a security challenge and then change your password the next time you sign in.
If someone else has access to your account, they have your password and might be trying to access your personal information or send junk email.

Hi there,

Security in Outlook.com is being tightened.

Without actually seeing the email & link{s} provided... it is difficult for us to give you a definitive answer..

FYI

Microsoft usually has a green shield on the sender's name.

This indicates that the email is coming from Microsoft /  legit sender.

*** Please check your email to see if the green shield is there. ***
