I had the same problem on my Windows Mobile 6.5 device with ActiveSync. When I looked in Certificates I noticed the GlobalSign Root CA expired 1/28/2014 (on the device). A new one is available that expires 1/28/2028 here in base-64 (text) encoding.

https://support.globalsign.com/customer/portal/articles/1217617-install-globalsign-root-ca-certificate

Put the text including Begin and end into a text file and save with .cer extension. I was able to email it to my phone which automatically added the new root when the file was opened.

One mistake I made earlier was trying to get the Intermediary cert that was next in the chain above Hotmail, but it seemed the root above that was what was needed.

another mistake I made was using a different format that had tags like

-----BEGIN PKCS7-----

and also some comments at the top. The phone was saying the certificate was corrupt.

Maybe a more reliable method is to get on a PC with the valid root and export it from there and use that file on the device.

I'm having the same issue and can't email it because of the issue.  Tried creating the file on the touchpad, but it just opens as a Word doc (wasn't entirely expecting it to work).  Not sure how I can install a cert on  the touchpad.

UPDATE: Found an easy fix here (Martin S74's post)

Just go to https://m.hotmail.com and trust it.

Glad that worked for you. I just _finally_ was able to locate a support article on GlobalSign web site that has the download links for their Roots

https://support.globalsign.com/customer/portal/articles/1426602

The one in the Hotmail chain is "GlobalSign Root R1"

http://secure.globalsign.net/cacert/Root-R1.crt

On my Mobile 6.5 device, IE 6 doesn't have an option to trust and add that I found - maybe other will find this helpful.

Using your device's web browser, connect to https://m.outlook.com/ or https://m.hotmail.com/ and accept the new certificate.  Does that help?

No it doesn't work.  The IE6 based browser on WM 6.X devices doesn't ask if you want to accept the new certificate.

You may want to research other question threads that apply to your device.  Web OS (this thread) is for Palm and HP Touchpads primarily, so not likely to generate an answer here.  I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you personally.  You're on the right track though - there's probably a simple solution for you out there!

Hi Kayar,

  What device are you using?

For my HP Touchpad, I went to https://m.outlook.com with the Web application and was asked if I want to trust the certificate (Trust Always, Trust Once, Don't Trust, etc.) - Trust Always will save the certificate.

It appears other Operating Systems (OS's) or browsers don't do this.

Did you try the Root-R1.crt link in my followup above? That was the cert I used for Windows Mobile 6.5, ActiveSync to m.hotmail.com.
