how do I retrieve older emails?

The emails in my Outlook In-box only go back to last November.  I need to access emails from earlier last year.  How do I do this?
What type of email account do you use? POP, IMAP, Outlook.com, Exchange?

IF IMAP, Outlook.com or Exchangem, go to File, Account Settings, open the account settings dialog. Double click on the account and check the sync settings - are you syncing the entire mailbox?

Hi

If this is in a desktop version of Outlook, go to Options and Account Settings, double-click on the account in question, and see if you can increase the Exchange Cached Mode to a duration required.

Unable to find something that related to sync settings.  And on closer inspection, I see that older e-mails from some senders are resident in my email account, so perhaps I myself deleted the older emails from the sender I was looking for.  Thanks!

Online version doesn't have any restrictions so you should be seeing all emails if you scroll down far enough. If they are not showing then they were most likely deleted by a retention policy.

Right-Click on inbox and expand 'Assign policy'. You should see which retention policy is currently used for the root folder.

If you're not using a desktop, you should have specified how you're accessing the mailbox. Sounds like you're using a mobile device. If so, the account settings in the device should have a setting for specifying how far back to sync.

I have the same issue.  I have a hotmail account and am using Outlook.com.  I, too, cannot see older emails.  Today, 15 Jul 18, I can only scroll down and see back to 6 Jun 18.   There is no more to scroll.  I've looked in rules and there is no rule that would affect my inbox.  Is there something in Sync that would affect this?
