Unable to access my live.com.au account

I've just tried to log into one of my live.com.au accounts and am being told that the account doesn't exist anymore.  Is there any way to recover this account as it is connected to one of my Twitter accounts.

Thanks in advance!

Michael :)

Michael,

The error "Microsoft Account does not exist" usually means:

*The person is logging in using an Alias.

*The person mistyped the email address. Retyped the correct email address.
*The person shows as inactive.

To keep your Outlook.com account active you must sign in to the account at least once every 365 days.

After 365 days of inactivity, your email will be deleted and cannot be recovered.

After 2 years of inactivity, your Microsoft account will be deleted and cannot be recovered.

If your account was marked inactive it would not exist.

Accounts that have been removed have a 60 day waiting period before the address is again available.

At the end of that time  anyone  may be able to create a new account or an alias using the same email address.
The data is gone however.

(I understand you can only create @outlook.com and @hotmail.com addresses when creating new accounts.)

Hi again!

Many thanks for your reply!  I appreciate it.

Since going through your reply as well as trying to get help via the Microsoft Australia Twitter account (where I was directed to another thread within here (that didn't apply to my situation)  I have gone back and tried to start the process again so that I can give you exact information of the account and exactly what I have tried to do! :)

The account in question is one that I have for quite some time although I haven't been using it all that recently.  The main reason for me trying to access it again is because it is the email attached to an old Twitter account of mine that I desperately need to gain access to (due to it being attached to a business of mine)  I tried contacting Twitter to reset the password but they cannot help as the email attached is the one I am unable to access :(

They said there is no way possible that they can reset the password for me without me being able to access this email account!

From memory this email account was always a 'hotmail.com' address.  But it now appears that it has somehow been 'transferred/changed' etc to a 'live.com.au' address.  I honestly can't remember doing that myself as I thought I had left it as a 'hotmail.com' address.  I do think that it may have been a year or so (not much longer) that I last logged in to it.  So I am hoping that it still may be able to be re-activated!  Losing emails isn't an issue at all it's just gaining access to the account so that I can get back into my Twitter account!

So I have now gone back to try to log in and gone to reset the password etc.

The message that  came up is:  'Try entering your Microsoft account again. We don't recognize this one.'

So I tried the same username but with the hotmail.com address but still got the same message.  That's as far as I have been able to get......I really hope you can help me get it back! :)

Many thanks!

Michael

Hello Michael again,

I neither work for or speak for Microsoft.
This is a peer to peer site staffed mostly by volunteers who have little or no contact with Microsoft.

All we can do is point you in the right direction.

I suggest you 'talk'  with a Microsoft Account support specialist via this chat link.

Good luck!
