This article from Microsoft says that to change region of Microsoft account, I have to change region of the Xbox account, even if I don't use Xbox. I don't understand how/why is this so? As far as I know, I can do this and migrate my Xbox account to a different Microsoft account. So Xbox account and Microsoft account are two different things, just associated with each-other. Then how does changing region of Xbox account matter? In future, I can just migrate this Xbox account to different Microsoft account.
Also, on this page: https://account.microsoft.com/profile/ > Edit your personal info, there's option to change Country/region (note that this is not the public profile shown to others, that is on https://profile.live.com). So shouldn't the Country/region in this Edit your personal info page change the region of our Microsoft account, instead of changing Xbox account's region (which, like I said, can be migrated to another Microsoft account in future).
