The first resolution provided didn't help ,messages still display as "unread" even after they're read. this only happens during some time, but it happens and then is gone. Any suggestions I would appreciate, the issue still persists.

3-Please can you check in the new outlook setting.Go in view setting < Mail< Message handling < and check if Mark displays items as read after 5 seconds is check if yes please uncheck it and choose Mark displayed items as read as soon as they're selected. and check the issue
