MOST URGENT - Is this a scam: Verify/activate my email account within 24 hours or lose it

1. Without seeing the email & link provided. (Continue with verification) ... it is difficult for us to tell.

However I suspect it is a phishing scam designed to frighten people into clicking a link that doesn't go to Microsoft.(The snip you provided re E-MAIL activation <*** Email address is removed for privacy ***>does sound suspicious.) 

2. Phishing email messages often contain phrases like:

  • "Verify / activate your account."

  • "Update your account."

  • "During regular account maintenance…"

  • "Failure to update your records will result in account suspension."

  • "Your email will expire."

3. FYI

Legitimate emails have a green lock in the address bar, & when you mouse over any links they must clearly point to a Microsoft site.

Please check the email(s) you have received.
