Microsoft account weird password problem

Hello

I have recently bought a new Dell PC.

Now, when I started the PC, it was already signed in, without any pass. (It has a Microsoft account)

I set up the password later and afterwards, open outlook.com

Now, after putting in the same email ID as shown in the Settings, I put the password that I set up earlier.

It shows incorrect password, even though I use the same password to sign in to my PC everytime.

Let me reiterate that it's a microsoft account and not a local account.

Hi Lavitra,

First and foremost, thanks for reaching out to our Microsoft Community Forum and please accept our warmest regards and sincerest hope that all is well.

We understand that you're unable to login to your Microsoft Account and at the same time getting the message that the password is incorrect.

Now in order for us to better assist you here I need to ask?

1) Are you getting the incorrect error message while using a web browser like in the photo below?

2) What's the email address in use for this Microsoft account of yours? You don't have to tell me the actual email account. I just need to know if it's @Outlook.com or @Hotmail.com or @Live.com or something else.

3) Have yo tried resetting the password and see if that solves this issue?

We look forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Glenn Rue

Thanks for your feedback.

1. Yes, on the browser, but it only shows, "incorrect password".

2. *** Email address is removed for privacy ***

3. When I bought the PC, it came with the account.

When I try the "Forgot Password" option, it takes me through a number of forums to try and confirm my identity.

Well, I don't know much about the account, how can I verify it?

And let me tell this again, that I set up the password in the Settings of my PC (the account was logged in already). Now when I use the same password, on a web browser, it shows incorrect.

Hi Lavitra,

Thanks for the update and my apologies for the late reply.

At any rate, the information you've provided me suggest that this was an account you did not setup but someone else setup for you.

So just to be clear here that @outlook.com you provided me is not yours? It was created by someone else when you bought the computer?

Respectfully,
