I tried to disassociate an email address from my 360 account, but it seems the email account has been completely deleted from Outlook instead.

I tried to remove an email address (cm********@hotmail.com) from my 360 account, but it seems the email has been completely deleted instead. Please advise how I can recover my email address. This address has served me for years and there is information I would need to retrieve.

I have tried going back in my browser history to get back to that login. I have tried switching users under outlook to no avail. When I use the link in my Google browser I can see the account again, but if I try to log in from any other tab I get a message that the account no longer exists. The name has changed from cm********@hotmail.com to an outlook number. I have tried to paste a screen shot but that won't load.

It seems the account name has been changed to outlook_1************* Email address is removed for privacy ***

I would like to recover and preserve my account if at all possible. Please advise.

Thank you.

Dear AM W

Thanks for using Microsoft products and posting in the community.

Please check the alias of your current account:  Manage how you sign in to Microsoft

If your current account's primary alias is a three-way domain name, then the outlook mailbox will indeed show a virtual address of <outlook_XXXXXXXX@outlook.com>.

Have you deleted your Hotmail alias in the alias manager?

Unfortunately, because you're deleting an alias that belongs to the Microsoft domain, once it's deleted, it's permanently deleted and can't be created again. You may need to create a new account name.

You can refer to this link: Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support

We know this is not the result you were hoping for and we share your disappointment. However, if you want to use the domain name Hotmail.com, you will have to recreate the e-mail address with a new name.

Sincerely wish you the best.

Best Wish
