How to Disable CoPilot

I have a user that really hates the CoPilot and it keeps coming up on his outlook. I tried disabling the Add In but didn't see it listed. Any way to locally disable CoPilot for just a single user

Hello  Kyle Elton,

 Good day!

Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Per the description you have shared, your query is related to Sales copies Microsoft Team. It will be best if you reach out to them so you can be assisted accurately.

Please contact them Visit the Sales Copilot - Microsoft Community Hub to engage with our experts. Reference: Update add-in error in Sales Copilot for Microsoft Outlook | Microsoft Learn

However, to better understand the issue and provide solution, we need more details from you, please kindly provide us the following information. Thank you.

1-Please may i know how the user get it. Is it user-deployed or Admin deployed?

End users can install the Outlook add-in and Teams app from within Microsoft AppSource in Outlook or Teams respectively, as long as they aren't explicitly blocked by the administrator.

If end users install the Outlook add-in, it's considered user-deployed instead of admin-deployed and will not have full feature support. User-deployed apps don't support Sales Copilot banner notifications that appear within the top of new or reply emails. Also, the Sales Copilot is not added automatically to meeting invites. However, sellers can manually add Sales Copilot to the meeting to get meeting summaries.

2-Please may i know if it is Sales Copilot?

as user you can follow the instructions: Install Sales Copilot - Microsoft Support

Open Outlook on the web.

  1. On the Home ribbon, select Get add-ins.

  2. In the Add-Ins for Outlook window, select My add-ins in the left pane.

  3. On the Sales Copilot card, select Manage Add-In (...) at the bottom-right, and then select Remove.

If it is admin-deployed please kindly contact your Admin or IT department for assistance.

We look forward to your response. This requested information will help us to narrow down the scenario and find the right troubleshooting. We will keep assist you based on the information you will provide. I sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

I was able to do the end user instructions and it seemed to be removed. No Sales Co Pilot in the top ribbon yesterday and couldn't see it in the Add Ins. Then this morning it reappeared. Any ideas?

Hello Kyle Elton,

Thank you for your reply,

It can be Admin deployed, please can you contact your Admin or IT department and follow the Admin instruction to remove the add from a specific user. Admin instructions: Remove Sales Copilot from Microsoft 365 admin center | Microsoft Learn. and let me know the results.

I also turned off the setting in the Org Settings, but it has re-appeared today.

And the app is not admin deployed, as I am an admin in our organization.

I am having the same issue. I have an open ticket with Microsoft but they are giving me the same "fixes" as above which do not work.

I have removed the add-in from Outlook, in the Teams admin portal, and everything else yet it still appears. I will keep you updated if the Microsoft ticket gives me other options.

I was able to get this to work in my test tenant by setting Sales Copilot to only be available for specific users. After I made this change, it took a day or so, but it stopped appearing in the ribbon for the users that were not assigned to it. The add-in was also removed from these users when I checked their Outlook Desktop (File, Manage add-ins).

  1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Settings > Integrated apps.

  2. Select Microsoft Sales Copilot and then select the Configuration tab (click the three dots and click Edit Configuration).

  3. On the Configuration page click Users.

  4. I added a few specific users and clicked Update. I later confirmed these two users have the Sales Copilot in the ribbon.

Hope this might help.

After turning off the setting for Copilot in the Org Settings, the banner seemed to stop appearing in new emails.

It seems it took a couple of days to propagate through the tenant.

Why does Microsoft deploy applications without my permission. I don't want Copilot and never did. Stop messing with my system.
