When I try to clean out my Deleted Items Folder, Outlook gives the message to Delete the Recoverable Items Folder. Well that isn't in my folder list. And This is just the web based free to everyone so there is no IT department, save you all lovely and nice people, to go to.

More info that my be helpful:

The folder started acting strange when I let the Recoverable Items Folder get up to 21K items. And the account was at 98% capacity.

After that I couldn't use Deleted Item's "Empty Folder" GUI. It would just give me Delete the Recoverable Items Folder message.

So I just selected most of the items and right clicked to get to "Delete" in the pop up menu, and those would go to the Recoverable folder. Then I would do the same thing to remaining items in the Deleted Items.

Then I would clean out Recoverable Items by selecting all and using that folders delete all GUI.

Hi. I'm Brian, an Independent Advisor.

Your Recover deleted messages folder is visible when you open the Deleted Items folder. Here's an image:

And I can't delete it from there.

I can get to it, but it is just there like a human appendix doing nothing.

There is no way to delete it.

The system says I need to delete the RI folder to be able to delete the contents of my trash folder.

Deleting the folder is the objective.

When I try to empty the deleted items folder it tells me, in a pop up box,  I need to delete the recoverable items folder(RIF) first.

Click the "Recover deleted messages" link in the Deleted Items folder. Then click the check mark above the message list to select all items in the Recover deleted messages folder. Click Empty folder on the menu bar. Go have dinner. If you have a lot of items, it can take a long time.
