Hi Girlish. That worked in that the office has now totally gone.  Now I need instructions on how to obtain the proper update for this surface RT 8.1.  Thanks for getting me this far.

Repairing Office 2013 RT should not have removed Office on the device. Since the repair has not worked, let us try to reset the device.

According to the Office 2013 RT Frequently Asked Questions, resetting the device would revert to the edition installed at the time you bought it (either Office Home & Student 2013 RT Preview, Office Home & Student 2013 RT, or Office 2013 RT).

Note:

·         Ensure to take a back-up of the data before trying to reset.

·         Resetting the device may remove other apps installed.

I ran the Fix it contained in the link you provided.  It uninstalled Microsoft Office and I don't know how to re-install it.  Please help!
