Excel - cell displays formula instead of results.

I want the text in cell A76 to also appear in cell A83.  So, in cell A83 I enter "=A76"  But cell A83 does not show the text, it shows the formula  "=A76".  How do I get it to show the contents of A76?

Hi,

 

 

A couple of things.

 

1. You said you typed "=A76". The correct formula is =A76 note there are no quotes.

 

2. maybe the cell was formatted as text. Select the cell, right click, format cells and select 'general'. Now tap F2 and enter.

 

3. Maybe you're worksheet is set to display formula nd not results. Hold down the CTRL and tap `

 

The ` symbol is to the left of the 1 key.
