No network connection

Split from this thread.

Same here. I am getting an error that tells me "No network connection" although I can access the internet.

Previously, I was able to activate Word, but it kept giving me errors so I decided to sign out. Now I cannot use Word on my Mac (macOS Catalina) at all! I have looked at other forums and tried what has been suggested: going to keychain and deleting certain files, installing v15 instead of v16. Strangely, I can access Word with the same account and with no issues on Windows 10.

Please help me as well!

As per your error message, I guess it may be related to the network, I suggest you untick Auto Proxy Detect to check if it can help you, as it has helped for a user who meet a similar issue:

1. Open Apple icon>select System preferences.

2. Click Network>select Advanced>click Proxies.

Hi  Marcus,

Let's start at the beginning. What version of Word is currently running? You posted to a thread that is for Office 365. If you have an Office 365 subscription and your version of Mac OS is at least 10.13.6 or newer, the version of Word should be 16.35

To find out the version of Word you have, right click on Microsoft Word.app in Finder and choose Get Info.

Before trying to offer any suggestions I think knowing that information is essential.

Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.

Hi

Sorry, I freaked out about Qing. His reply made me disappointed and angry.

At any rate, it would seem that Office and your Mac OS are not talking to each other. Your install of Office is right up to date, as is your install of Mac OS.

Please go to the Applications > Utilities folder and run Disk Utility. Use it to verify your startup volume. Does it say everything appears to be OK?

Be sure to include the version number and OS version when asking your question.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for your reply and updates.

I would like to confirm if you have tried my suggestion to check if the issue is related to the network settings:

1. Open Apple icon>select System preferences.

2. Click Network>select Advanced>click Proxies.

If it can't help you, you can try safe mode to check if whether background programs are interfering with Office for Mac:

How to use a "clean startup" to determine whetherbackground programs are interfering with Office for Mac

If the issue still exists, you are welcome to post back and I will keep working on this.

Regards,

Qing
