Manage folder backup popup

What is the Manage folder backup screenshot below telling me about folder backups?

For me I believe that my Desktop and Pictures are in my OneDrive folder (on PC and Cloud) and nowhere else, and my Documents are on my System Drive (C:\) and nowhere else. But the Manage folder backup display (see screenshot) shows Desktop and Picture files "backed up" (meaning on PC and on OneDrive to me) and My Documents are "checked" (meaning on OneDrive to me). Very confusing.

Answer

Your Desktop and Pictures folders are backing up to OneDrive.  The location of these folders is C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Desktop and  C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Pictures and no place else locally on your PC.

Your Documents are not yet backing up.  The location is C:\Users\username\Documents.

You have selected the Documents folder to get backed up.  It's been checked but you haven't started the backup until you click "Start backup".  Then the new location will be C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Documents and no place else on your PC.

When you are fully backed up the Documents, Pictures, Desktop, and OneDrive folders are all-inclusive in OneDrive.

I know there are other folders that you may want to include in OneDrive but that is all Windows 10 offers for now.

Your Music, Videos, and other files can be placed in the OneDrive folder.  Don't sync Program files and App data, etc. to OneDrive.
