Hi,

You can't uninstall Microsoft Edge as it is a built in app that is reuiqed by the OS. It is like Chrome on Chromebooks and Safari on iOS/Mac.

You can just hide Edge it won't bother you.

Dear Sri,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I will be happy to assist you in this regard and I feel sorry if MS, Edge makes you inconvenient.

Microsoft Edge is the web browser recommended by Microsoft and is the default web browser for Windows. Because Windows supports applications that rely on the web platform, our default web browser is an essential component of our operating system and can’t be uninstalled.

To provide Windows users with compatibility, compliance, accessibility, and performance, Microsoft will continue updating Microsoft Edge through the browser installer or Windows updates.

You can get more information in the link below:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-e...

Is it possible to know why you want to remove it? is there any difficulty with it that I can help you out?

However, if you do want to disable Edge from Windows 10, you can find the answer by (Vijay A. Verma - Volunteer Moderator) from the provided link below:

Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Sincerely,

Dyari Barham

I don't have the answer -- I'm just here to join you in your complaint!  If Edge is so good, then why is it forced down our throats?  Edge is a Virus.  And I rather hate bloatware, but viruses are worse.  Either way, I am always trying to delete them -- but with Edge it keeps coming back.  I've had the Corona, and would rather have that 24/7 than Edge.  I am exploring Linux Mint right now.

There is hope.  It is a deep-dive into the tech-world, but removing Edge is possible, it would seem.  Microsoft Explorer was good for one thing, and that was downloading Firefox.  But Edge?  It may work, but if I can't un-choose it, I will not try to find out if it does.  I will only refuse to use it.  And Bing!  That's a virus too.

If Microsoft wants to attract customers, they are failing.  Instead, they are detracting customers.  I guess they have a functional monopoly so they don't care about the people anymore.  Hey!  Like Congress.

Hey Christopher,

Every OS has a built-in browser, such as Chrome or Safari. Every OS update in those also update Safari or Chrome as well. Edge is just there so windows will work, you can use any browser you want. It isn't bloatware and a virus.

It only comes up once in the operating system when it is first installed. Just like any other browser. You did agree to the Windows terms and license. Which includes updating software, and components. It states that Microsoft is allowed ot update any app or have anything preinstalled as part of the OS.

There is nothing wrong.

For example, on Chorme OS and iOS,you canm't delete those browsers as well. It is built in. Just ignore it. You can disable Edge, look at below 3rdparty link.

Hi Everyone,

Please take a look at the Windows License terms,

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/Useterms/OEM/Windows/10/Useterms_OEM_Windows_10_English.htm

This states that Edge is allowed to be preinstalled and be updated.

Hey Christopher,

You are able and allowed to remove Edge from tskbar, and put Chrome as default. Bing isn't a virus, it is the default search engine, it isn't Google. Microsoft is allowed to put that as default, it is part of the terms, second Google is having a anti=lawsuit.

Windows isn't forcing you to use Bing, you can download a software that replaces Bing with google in startmenu, search and siwtches it to Edge.

Chrome book & Apple shouldn't be allowed to do that either.  I agree that it isn't a virus.  Depending on how detailed you look into the meaning of Bloatware, I would call Edge just that.  Anyway, I just needed to voice my opinion, and thank you for the link to how to disable it for those who don't want it.

Here is how you remove Edge.

1. Open Powershell as admin.

2. Type the command “get-appxpackage *edge*” (without the quotation marks) and press enter.

3. Copy the PackageFullName.

4. Type the command “remove-appxpackage” followed by the PackageFullName.

5. Press enter and reboot.

It is most certainly bloatware, it was installed by default for data collection purposed and I choose not to have it installed on the computer I own.
