Need the old Windows Update, not the new Windows Update

I'm currently running the new January build 9926 and only the new Windows Update is present.

I need the old Windows Update applet because I need to be able to tell Windows Update to grab updates from WU itself and not from my internal corporate server.

I tried starting wuauclt.exe in system32, but it does not start.

Does anyone know how I can access it?

Answer

No, I'm afraid it doesn't help.

I need the old Windows Update applet from Windows 7/8/8.1

The new applet does not allow me to choose to get updates direct from Microsoft, rather than our internal corporate Windows Update server.

The new applet is incredibly bare and offers little to no options, and is useless for my testing needs inside my company.

This is a big step backwards for Windows 10, and I am disappointed.

This will give you Windows Update back. Save this in Notepad as WU.reg. Then look in Control Panel and you will find Windows Update is back

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX]
"IsConvergedUpdateStackEnabled"=dword:00000000

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate\UX\Settings]
"UxOption"=dword:00000000
