can't restor my computer to an earlier date any more

I have recently switched from dial up Internet service and installed a cable modem service.  Now I can not restore my computer to an earlier date.  I have tried to restore it several times and it keeps telling me that I can't restore to an earlier point, even though I use to be able to.  I am at my wits end, help!  Thanks, Ron

Answer
Some security programs prevent changes to their files and have to be configured to allow System Restore to work.  For example, if your computer has Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security, you must turn off Norton Product Tamper Protection before running System Restore. Check the documentation for your security program.
