Forgot my Windows login password and my account is set to admin
Problem is, even when I press f8 on start-up and select safe mode/ safe mode with networking it takes me back to my original login page because I am set as the computer admin as well.
Need an urgent reply, thanks!

Boot up normally. When you reach the welcome screen, press ctrl-alt-delete twice. The old style login will appear. Enter administrator for the user and the password is blank. From there change the password for your account.Hi thanks for the reply, I've given that a try and nothing changes on screen at all unfortunately

I've been extremely stupid and set a new password on a new laptop I have just bought.
Problem is, even when I press f8 on start-up and select safe mode/ safe mode with networking it takes me back to my original login page because I am set as the computer admin as well.

Hi,
If you have just bought a new Laptop, you will not have XP installed on it.
Here is XP information which you have already been given.
"How to log on to your Windows XP-based computer if you forget your password or if your password expires"
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
"What to do if you forget your Windows password"
http://windows.microsoft.com/is-IS/windows-vista/What-to-do-if-you-forget-your-Windows-password
"If you forget the administrator password and don't have a password reset disk or another administrator account, you won't be able to reset the password. If there are no other user accounts on the computer, you won't be able to log on to Windows and will need to re-install Windows."
Microsoft forbids any assistance being given in these Forums to help you bypass or "crack" lost or forgotten Passwords.
Here is the Microsoft Information outlining that Policy:
Cheers.

You have the ways to do XP, Vista and Windows 7 Passwords there.
If they are not useful for you, we can not assist any further due to Microsoft's policy.
Good luck with the reinstall.
Cheers.
