i have windows 10 pro and office 2016 with this problem, it won't syncronise ondrive buiseness nor OneDrive private , i have another pc with windows 10 home and office 2016 where syncronising works fine, please help!

Hi Michael,

You may try these troubleshooting steps regarding the error you encountered:

  1. Clear Windows Credential:
    • On the Control Panel, go to User Accounts > Credential Manager > Manage Windows Credentials.
    • Delete all MicrosoftOffice15/MicrosoftOffice16 credentials.
  2. Open Word/Excel application then go to File > Accounts. Sign out the current account and then login the Office 365 account with a valid OneDrive for Business license.
  3. Clear OneDrive for Business cache using Easy Fix Tool:
    • Download and install the Easy Fix tool on this article.

You can check this article for other troubleshooting steps.

Also, in syncing your SharePoint libraries to your computer, I suggest you use the OneDrive for Business Preview Build next generation sync client. To download and install the preview build, follow the steps on this link.

If you successfully installed the next generation sync client, when you click on the blue cloud icon on the system tray, it should display the same as below:

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Michael,

We apologized for the inconvenience that have caused you regarding this issue. OneDrive for Business should work with the version of your Windows, and you may need to follow the instructions given, as this may fix the error message you encountered when syncing OneDrive for Business to your local computer.

Also, you may follow my suggestion to install the Next generation sync client, as this can also be used to sync your SharePoint libraries to your local computer.

Thanks,

Mike

I have tryed all of the above.

I still get: "The server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol not supported by this version of Office"

BUT OneDrive seems to syncronise??!!

So how do i get rid of the: "The server you are trying to access is using an authentication protocol not supported by this version of Office" error?

& I still have 150 teachers and 2500 students, I can't fix this for them & I can't give them this instruction!!

So an easyer fix please.

Michael

Hi Michael,

Thanks for your updates.

The OneDrive for Business client works successfully now while you still encounter the error message. I suggest you follow the steps in this article our moderator provided.

Besides, please provide the information below:
    1. The version of the OneDrive for Business sync client you are using.
    2. Detailed steps and related screenshots about how you encounter the error message.
    3. Does the issue occur to all 150 teachers and 2500 students, who you need to provide suggestions for?

both of my onedrives are new OneDrive sync client.

the error came when i got a new pc with windows 10 & office 2016, first thing I do is to syncronise my onedrives as i use both of them frequently.

I then uninstalled office 2016 and installed 2013, this removed the error.

Today I took 2 freshly installed pc's the first one I started OneDrive for business first then OneDrive private, as soon as I logged on my private the error came, the second pc I started OneDrive private first then OneDrive for business... I have now waited 4 hours... NO error!! Looks like it depends on what OneDrive I log on first??!!

Does this make sense to you?

Regards Michael
