Your Phone: Physical keyboard not recognized

Hello,

I'm using the Your Phone app on my Microsoft Surface Book 2 with my Samsung Galaxy A41 to mirror the phone screen to Windows.

Unfortunately, the Surface physical keyboard doesn't work, my phone says no physical keyboard is connected.

The support doc says it should work: Setting up and using phone screen in the Your Phone app (microsoft.com)

Any help?

Nope, not at all.

Many tried to help, I tried stuff as well, no change.

But at least you confirm that the laptop is not the fault here. Thanks for sharing!

OneUi 3.1 is coming, maybe the update will fix. Samsung support couldn't help me, for them it is a problem of the application developer (Microsoft).

Updated to OneUI 3.1 today.

The laptop physical keyborad typing still doesn't work!

Thanks for letting me know about the OS update!

Anyway, I also updated to OneUI 3.1, updated all Play Store apps, updated all Galaxy Store apps, updated Windows, updated all Windows Store apps and it still does not work.

I also tried it on the Surface Book 3 and it does not work.

I tried it with Samsung Keyboard and with Microsoft SwiftKey keyboard and it does not work.

It seems that there's something wrong with the Galaxy A41 itself, sadly I have no access to other supported devices for testing.

Do you want to know what Samsung support told me?  Your Phone app is a Microsoft software, please conctact them.

Why? They have a parternetship, Samsung pre-install and integrate the app in OneUI but doesn't provide support, It's funny!

I have unistalled and made an app reset on both devices, what can we do now?

I'm at a loss to be honest. I spent nearly 2 hours on a session with a Microsoft technician, with him remoting onto my desktop. We tried everything we could think of, including a full Windows 10 reinstall and numerous reinstalls of phone apps and components ... but in every case something in the A41 disabled the desktop physical keyboard. It is noticeable however that the physical keyboard works in the main body of the Your Phone app (for Messages, Notifications etc) but as soon as you open the 'phone screen' the keyboard is disabled (and did the same for the MS technician even through his remote session). This is a shame as it is for apps like WhatsApp that the the physical keyboard is really useful. I have a friend with a Galaxy S10e and it works fine for her - all builds and versions are identical to mine. So it seems as though the A41 has some unique and very annoying bug.

We only need one person to be aware of this issue that is working on the your phone stuff - I'd happily help debugging the issue.

I opened another topic here: Link to Windows: Physical keyboard does not work - Samsung Community - 1850055

I wrote an email to *** Email address is removed for privacy *** (it's from https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.appmanager)

I opened a topic at SwiftKey forums (currently in review) plus submitted a ticket.

And finally I opened up an issue about it in the feedback hub.

Well, I hope to reach at least a single person who is somehow working on this feature.

Maybe it can be fixed by Microsoft, or it needs to be fixed by Samsung (software or hardware), we currently don't know.

I would try a phone hard reset, but I dont't believe that it could fix. I'm disappointed!

I did a hard reset on the phone ... and ... no change; the problem still persists. Yelling at the phone didn't help either even if it did make me feel (briefly better)
