You may be the first.  What a/v are you running and is there a .dmp file left on your system?

I'm assuming that you are installing this update all by itself and thus know it's this particular August kernel update?

P.S. email me at Susan-at-msmvps.com and I can set up a support case.  Microsoft can't repro this at will so they'll need your system to see what's up.

I'm running MS Security Essentials.

There is a dmp file created but I'm unable to to copy as the only way I can resurrect the system is by restoring the disk.

Yes, I started by installing all of the updates available tonight, 11 in my case, but narrowed it down this this particular one - hence the mutiple installs.

I will email too.

Ok, Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 64 bit.

All auto updates available for my machine with the exception of KB2859537 have now been installed. Afraid I didn't note the BSOD codes and don't particularly want to have to rebuild again to get them.

KB2813170 is installed.

Please answer each of the following [admittedly tedious] diagnostic questions in a correspondingly-numbered list in your very next reply - preferably without quoting my post:

1a. When (approx. date) did you purchase the computer?

1b. Did Win7 (64-bit) come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it, did you do a clean install of Win7, or did you upgrade from Vista to Win7?

2a. Was Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) originally offered & installed via Windows Update or did you intentionally choose to install it?

2b. In Windows Explorer [WinKey+E], navigate to & right-click on

   • C:\Program Files\Microsoft Security Client <=this folder

Select Properties: What is the Created date displayed on the resulting General tab?

2c. What ANTIMALWARE CLIENT version is currently installed? To find out, open MSE & click on the downward-pointing arrow to the right of HELP then select ABOUT SECURITY ESSENTIALS.

2d. What ENGINE version?

3. What anti-virus application was installed before you installed MSE, was your subscription still current, and did you uninstall it before you installed MSE?

4a. Has a(nother) Norton application or a McAfee application EVER been installed on the computer?

4b. Did a Norton free-trial or a McAfee free-trial [PICK ONE] come preinstalled on the computer when you bought it? (Doesn't matter if you never used or Activated it.)

5. Are ALL of the following other updates listed in View installed updates (not Update History)? [1]

    (a) KB2862772 & KB2868623
    (b) KB2850851; KB2839894 & KB2830290;
    (c) KB2813347, KB2840149 & KB2807986;
    (d) KB2790113; KB2676562 & KB2644615.

6a. Are you running Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), IE9 or IE10?

6b. Is Firefox, Chrome or any other alternate browser installed?

7a. Assuming Java is installed => Is Java Version 7 Update 25 (or higher) installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp

7b. Is Adobe Flash Player v11.8.800.94 installed? TEST HERE USING INTERNET EXPLORER ONLY! => http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/

8. Are you in the habit of using "Registry cleaners" (e.g., Registry Mechanic; System Mechanic; RegCure; RegClean Pro; Advanced SystemCare; Registry Booster; McAfee QuickClean; AVG PC TuneUp; Norton Registry Cleaner; PCTools Optimiser; SpeedUpMyPC; PC Doctor; TuneUp Utilities; WinMaximizer; WinSweeper; Comodo System Cleaner; Advanced System Optimizer; CCleaner Registry Cleaner)?

Hello.

This is ditry problem for many users, not only for EnglishM45.

Just search for "kb2859537" in the google or yandex.

I also have the problem with this crappy update - it's not possible to run almost all applications include IE, Personalize screen, components from control panel and many other "native windows features and applications".

One of the problem with run is error 0xc0000005. I'm absolutely sure this error code is well known to you.

My configuration (before update): Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit English Service Pack 1

, Internet Explorer 10.0.9200.16635 (Update version: 10.0.7).

This update is also breaking some video games.  RIFT and Defiance are two in particular.  Luckily I was behind on patching this month, ha.

Same here, can't start any program. Uninstall the update, restart and hide in Win Update.
It's not the first time!

First off I don't see anyone else getting a bsod.  Can you show me in google where you are seeing this?

When you say you are getting "run is error 0xc0000005" how exactly are you seeing this error?  And no, I don't memorize error codes so it's not well known to me.

Can you post up event errors you see?
