My name is Anthony, an Independent Advisor trying to help.
The first thing you have to do is enter the Windows 10 Settings menu. To do this, open the notification area and click on the gear icon, or press the same icon when you open the start menu.
Once in the configuration menu, you will see that you have different sections. Here, click on the System option, which is where Microsoft has put the audio options after the last update of Windows 10.
Within the System menu, in the left column click on the Sound option. You will enter a menu in which the first thing you will see is an option of Choose the output device. If you click on it a window will open with options.
In this window, you can choose the speakers for which you want the sound of the system to come out in case you have several connected, or if you have different options. Below you can also change the volume, and there will be a Troubleshoot icon in case you are encountering sound problems.
On the same screen, if you slide it down you will reach the Entry section. Here, in the Choose the input device menu you can choose the microphone you want to use in the system.
If you keep going down, you can click on the option Device preferences and application volume if you want to change the volume of the applications. By doing so, you can make the sound of certain apps that you have open at that time less than the rest.
The first thing you'll see in this menu will be a general device sound setting. Here you can change the output (speakers), the input (the microphone) and the overall volume again.
Best Regards.

Anthony, thank you for the response.
I have a call center of over 300 users. If I understand your post correctly I would end up performing this function at each client which is not a solution that scales well. Is there a way to perform this task from a Windows Administrator's perspective and not from an individual user perspective. I have seen someone mention using MMDevice API as a possible alternative.

To disable Exclusive Mode for Support, follow the instructions below:
1. Open Control Panel> Hardware and Sound> Sound and click on the Playback tab.
2. Select Support from the list of audio devices and then click Properties.
3. In the Properties window, go to the Advanced tab and uncheck the option "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device".
4. Click OK to apply the settings.
5. Again in the Sound window, click on the Recording tab and repeat steps 2-4.
Once completed, restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Now, about the MMDevice API, here is the following information on how to apply, I hope it will be useful:
