Skype 7 (Skype classic) to be discontinued soon.

Since I have a Microsoft PC (Surface Pro 3), a Microsoft operating system (Win 10 Pro), and the new Skype 8 is useless on that combo, since the camera brightness cannot be adjusted (quite apart from inconveniences of layout compared to Skype 7), does that mean that Microsoft is effectively banning me from using Skype?

What kind of service is that?

Just dump Skype and use [redacted] = [redacted] you have all to gain and nothing to lose - another Microsoft manipulation hasn't trapped me D

Well I can tell you , (and affirmed after seeing all the negative comments, reviews etc) NEW skype is not meeting peoples needs, and as SO many have issues with it, and as you clearly can not address all of them in time. Can you extend the support for the previous version so that we can continue to use the version we like? I for one can not use new skype for my needs, it simply doesnt work the way I need it too.

If you cut of the previous version Sept 1st, I know you are going to lose a LOT of users. I am already having to look for an alternative as I simply cant use new skype  as it doesnt support my needs like the old one did.

PLEASE continue support of the previous version and dont force us to change to something that is not making the users happy!

Based on customer feedback, we are extending support for Skype 7 (Skype classic) for some time. Our customers can continue to use Skype classic until then.

So much is going to depend on people like us. If we just go back to the way things were before (in terms of feedback we give), then the next year of Skype 8 might go along the same track as the last year.

Hmm. Is there a  way to have both installed on one machine for testing?

It might be a little more complicated than that if you're on Win10, since the link seems to shunt you over to Windows Insider Access in that case, probably on the assumption that you'd want to test Skype Preview (the UWP app).

I really don't. I want to test Skype 8 Insider. On Win10. But without Skype 7 being touched.

I understand that I won't be able to run them concurrently.

So, given all that, if I simply download Skype 8 Insider and install it, will the installer shanghai Skype 7?
