How can I start windows 7 in safe mode?... Cant use the F8 and the RCMP virus I have will not let me access the start menu

Have tried to start in safe mode, unsuccessful, I can log in to my sons account on the same PC but he does not have administrative rights so what I can do is limited under his account log in.  Is there anything I can do to change rights under an account that previously didnt have any admin rights?
 How can I get around this virus to delete it?

Looking for a back door if you will to try to restart in safe mode.. I have been able to power down during a restart and get to the safe mode screen but I cant toggle up or hit enter to make the choice to restart in safe mode..

I dont have a disk for windows 7 as the vendor that sold me PC did not give me one

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Hello Jeff,

Have you tried creating a new Administrative account while under your son's account? Try that first. If that doesn't work, try elevating your son's account type from user to administrative. Does that help you out?

 

As far as deleting the virus, there is a very long download that creates a live CD called BootMedic. You download the 32 Bit version from here: http://download.cnet.com/BootMed/3000-2094_4-75448200.html; and the 64 Bit version from here http://download.cnet.com/BootMed-64Bit/3000-2094_4-75450831.html.

 

Once its been downloaded, right click on the file to unzip it, then right-click again to burn the image to a CD. From there insert and reboot your PC. Among other applications is an antivirus application that should let you get control of your PC again.
