Surface pro 4 Typecover not detected

After the last update, something wrong happen to my type cover. It's not working when my pro4 wakes up from sleep. Reattach typecover resolved this issue as well. But 2 days before typecover stop working when I'm in the middle of work. My suface have popup said "one of the usb device attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and window does not recognise it" then even the light of the type cover not lightup any more. I tried every single way install driver, hard reset, reboot,... but nothing work. It's even not enable in UEFI. I'm hopeless now. Please help me.

Surge of questions about the same issue in the past few weeks. I am also experiencing this and Microsoft refuses to even make a statement, let alone release a fix.

Same problem keyboard not recognized by Surface Pro 4….This is a real issue for Microsoft and for users.

I bought Surface at BestBuy nd have maintained extended warranty but keyboard not covered and they say issue is software.

Yes, I also think it is a software problem. But it happens so randomly, and somehow it was fixed when I tried to able, disable type cover in UEFI. But the issue came back the next morning when I removed and reattached type cover. Now I'm writing by the touch cover. So annoying

Does a USB keyboard and mouse function correctly?

And have you tried or are able to try attaching a different type cover to see if that's the issue?

I ran into this issue with a Surface Pro 4 that I worked on at work (I'm in their IT department), and it turns out it was indeed an issue with the hardware/software of the Surface, and not the type cover. Any type cover plugged into it would not function. A keyboard/mouse connected with USB would work, but the type covers would not. They type covers would not function in UEFI either.

I went through driver updates, full system restore, re-imaging the machine with different drivers, the whole 9 yards.

I brought it to my local Microsoft Store, and since we had the warranty on it still, they replaced it. The rep at the store informed me that they saw this happen 3 times prior to me bringing it in. I would definitely take it a local Microsoft Store and have them confirm if it is the same issue that I and other people have supposedly run into and had to get their Surfaces sent to the manufacturer and serviced.
