Office 2016 - Outlook, Word and Excel image and form items display issue - invisible or glitchy

Hmm... lucky you... I just did the most recent Office update today, and still have the same problems. When I receive an email from any account, to any of my accounts, the images render perfectly.

But when I go to forward or reply to those mails, I get a bunch of random stuff. Images from different parts of the Outlook GUI, mixed with parts of the original image.

I've tried everything I can think of, and everything I found on the internet. No joy. I paid for a year subscription of Office 365, but I'm thinking of just uninstalling it and going back to my Office 2010 installation. Unlike this subscription based Office 365, I bought the software. It had NONE of these problems and worked flawlessly.

Just for the record, I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro, and the Office 2010 software is still on the machine. I read that it doesn't mess anything up by leaving it, and uninstalling previous iterations of standalone versions after Outlook 365 has been installed can cause problems.

My machine is custom, with a Gigabyte X79-UD3 motherboard, intel core i7-3960x 3.7Ghz, GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card, and a 4k Acer monitor. Graphics card drivers are up to date. I have the resolution at highest, but scaling at 150% so the text and icons are bigger. I did try going to normal scaling, and there was no difference. My OS is Windows 10 Pro x64 ver. 10.0.17763 Build 17763.737, 16GB Ram.

If there's anyone out there with a fix, please let me know... I don't have much hair left to pull out.

I updated windows 10 to the latest and it is working now. 

That's interesting MMMLHW that the windows 10 upgrade worked, because as I stated in my original post, I was running windows 10, upgraded from windows 7. At the time I had the latest version of windows 10, but no luck still. I have it fixed now, wiped my hard drive and did a clean install of windows 10 and office now works perfectly. I think the key is not the version of office or how many old versions of office that are installed, but the bug is somewhere in windows 10, if upgraded from windows 7. Did you upgrade from windows 7 MMMLHW?

When I tried to disable hardware acceleration, the GUI of all office apps became white blank page. But the buttons were functioning and right-click menu was visible as well. I can only recover by reset the disable hardware acceleration key in the register file.

That is exactly the same problem I had - The older version of office was perfect but Office 2016 behaved exactly as you describe.

I had a Microsoft support rep connect to my computer and completely uninstall the older version of office, then reinstall office 2016, but no luck. As they couldn't provide any further support as my office 2016 was out of warranty, they suggested I upgrade to the latest version of office so they could provide further support... it sounds like the problem still happens in the latest version of office from your experience.

The other big similarity that we have in common is that you said "I upgraded from Windows 7 Pro, and the Office 2010 software is still on the machine." I also upgraded from windows 7 Pro to windows 10 with the old version of office still on the machine, and this might be the problem - My guess is that the problem is somewhere in windows 10 upgrade, maybe only when office is already installed, but I think the problem doesn't lie within the office software itself, but in common windows files that perhaps aren't upgraded properly when windows is updated.

Long story short: I did a clean install of windows 10, then installed office 2016 and all my other apps on the same hardware. Problem solved. This also makes sense as MMMLHW said that an upgrade to windows 10 fixed his problem - If I were you I'd make sure I have the latest version of windows 10. If that doesn't work... consider a clean install of windows 10 and a re-install of all your apps. Probably not the answer you were hoping for but I hope it helps.

Interestingly, I have heard from a tech support friend of mine of other random issues after upgrading from windows 7 to windows 10.

Also another alternative - you could try contacting Microsoft support - since you have the latest version of office, support from Microsoft should be free, I think. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/

If there's someone out there that can shed some light on how to fix this an easier way it would be greatly appreciated... for my curiosity and also so that Repo-Man can keep the last of his hair :-)
