Tiles Broken after Creator Update

After the Creator 1703 update, the tiles on my start menu are broken. I haven't re-added all of them, and I had a full-screen start menu setup. The images are all present when I reboot my machine and log on, but a few seconds after logon they disappear, and the groups also re-arrange themselves. The links are fine - pressing a tile will open the program okay. I've rebuilt the Icon Cache twice to no avail. The only solution I have seen so far is to rebuild the icon cache, which hasn't worked. Any suggestions very welcome.

I've also deleted my Tile database, but this has not reset the start menu. Looks like I will have to recreate my user profile; I was hoping not to have to do this, but it seems I have no choice. I'm curious as to where the Tile database sits if removing it from C:\Users\[myname]\AppData\Local\TileDataLayer does not cause a reset; as you can see, all it did was remove a couple more and rejumble them again. :/

I'll redo my profile and hopefully that will work.

Hi,

You may not redo your profile yet. Create a test user account and check if the issue replicates. With regard to some system file corruption that the troubleshooter was able to detect, let's see if running these commands will do the trick:

  1. Press Windows key S and type Command Prompt (Admin).

  2. Type DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth and press Enter.

  3. Once it's done, type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

  4. Restart your computer.

Please advise as necessary.
