Office crashes after startup--EventID 300--"We're sorry, but [Office Application] has run into an error..."

Hi,

I'm on a Lenovo ThinkPad E545.

I'm using Windows 10 Edu 64-bit and Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus--both of which I received from my university. For a while now often times after I start up either Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. 2016 Desktop version, about 30 seconds after startup I get the error:

"We're sorry, but [Office Application] has run into an error that is preventing it from working correctly. [Office Application] will need to be closed as a result. Would you like us to repair now?"

If I click "Repair Now" button, the error box goes away but nothing happens until about 15 seconds later when the office application crashes.

Afterwards, if I reopen the application, it often works error-free, but the problem is persistent and really annoying.  Office version 1703 (Build 7967.2161 Click-to-Run) [Update--just updated to Version 1704 (Build 8067.2115 Click-to-Run)]

Event Viewer records these events as:

Event 300, Microsoft Office 16 Alerts

[Above error message]

P1: 702061

P2: 16.0.7967.2161

Any ideas as to how to fix this?
