Office 365 not installing updates (Error 30088-28)

Hi.

I recently installed Office 365, then I navigated to File\Account\Updates\InstallUpdates

It worked fine grabbing and downloading updates, then it displayed the following message

I searched the forum, and found Je-We solution that suggests to add a string registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\ClickToRun\Configuration\CDNBaseUrl

then to add the value http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/39168D7E-077B-48E7-872C-B232C3E72675

But I noticed that the answer is old (2014), and for Office 15, while now we are at 2017 with office 16 so I regret to apply his solution

Again, I navigated to my registry and found that the key CDNBaseURL is located at HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\Configuration

while its value is http://officecdn.microsoft.com/pr/492350f6-3a01-4f97-b9c0-c7c6ddf67d60

Please help me updating my Office365, as I installed it mainly new features it has over the normal office 2016 (I have legal copies of both).

Thanks in advance

Dear Kristine

Thank you very much for  your answer

Actually, I have tried to disable the antivirus and the firewall, as you suggested, but the same issue occurred again.

I tried something else that resolved the problem, which is manually deleting all previous installations of Office following the following steps from this guide:

  1. I used the Microsoft easy fix tool
  2. I followed this article to manually-remove both Click-to-run and MSI installations, as I had a previous MSI installation and this failed Click-to-run installation.
  3. Restart the PC

After performing the full cleanup, I followed the following:

  1. Disabled the firewall AND the antivirus, (I have Eset-Smart security, which is a very powerful firewall and protector)
  2. Went to the Office365 site to download the Online installation file (Not the offline installer, as the latter needs update after it finishes, while the online installer installs the latest version that requires no update.),
  3. I left it to work overnight (My internet connection speed is about 7 MB/s)

I came today morning, and it is all set. with no problems (Thank God)

Many thanks again Kristine and hope this guide benefit others.
