Take a tour

I have a user who bought MS Office 2013 Home and Student edition.

When they opened Word a small screen would appear, this was called "Take a Tour" and showed how to accomplish tasks.

This screen stopped showing up and the user would like it back again, any help would be appreciated.

When any of the other applications are opened, such as MS Excel 2013 the "Take a Tour" screen opens up as well.

On the File tab, select New. "Take a Tour" or "Welcome to Word" is one of the "Featured" templates, next to "Blank document."

Thanks, I did see that but when I showed it to the user they said it was different. I did not see the "Welcome to Word" template only the "Take a Tour".

The "Take a Tour" template just opens a document, what I am after is more like a show that can be positioned anywhere on the screen.

The template that says "Take a Tour" on the icon is labeled "Welcome to Word" underneath. There are some videos available when you open Help (with F1 or the ? icon), and others if you search for "take a tour." There's a series of videos at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/make-the-switch-to-word-2013-RZ102925062.aspx that might be helpful.

Thanks again but what I am looking for a an app that is installed by default with the Home Office 2013 version of MS Office.

I am finding it hard to explain has I have never seen it. It is only in MS Word that it has stopped working, when you open MS Excel of PowerPoint it opens up along with the new document.

Hello Barry,

Since the app does load when you open Excel and PowerPoint, you may provide us a screenshot of it to understand the issue and help you better.

Thank you.

This is how MS Excel opens, Word should be the same.

Isn't that the equivalent of the Welcome to Word (Take a Tour) selection at File | New in Word?

It may be that there is a Registry key involved. At HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options there are keys named FirstRun and FirstRunOnRTM. Perhaps they are relevant.

Thanks you Suzanne for the reply.

It is very similar to the Welcome to Word but differs in that it is not opened has document but rather a small window with forward and back arrows, (not visible in the screenshot).

I will have a look at the registry setting next week.

I thought about doing a remove and  reinstall but they do not have a DVD only an access code.

Ps, for some reason I do not get an email to inform me that a reply has been made even though I have that option ticked.
