Auto Correct settings lost after restart in Office 2013

Since Office 2007, when I set Auto Correct options to false (do not change my text as I'm writing, do not correct two capitals, etc) and I click OK, these settings only apply until I restart my computer. After a restart, everything is back to default again and Office is happily changing my words to a nonsense and I have to set the auto correct options again.

How do I resolve this error?

Answer
It's possible that your settings are not being stored properly. Some add-ins prevent changes to the Normal template from being saved, and it's possible that such add-ins might also prevent Word from writing changes to the Word Data key in the Registry. You might try deleting the Data key and trying again (see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/MissingMenusEtc.htm for instructions; the key you would be looking for for Word 2013 would be \\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Data).
