Word 2010 / How to use portrait mode with a document larger than high ?

Hi
Sorry for my english.

Word don't stay in portrait mode with a document larger than high.
The reason I don't use lanscape mode is mecanical with my printer.

A screen capture of what I do :
  "Etape" means "step"
"L'orientation passe en paysage" means  "Orientation becomes landscape"

But that's not what he wants; he wants it to be 12 wide and 8 high but in portrait orientation. Think of a wide-format dot matrix (or similar) printer that doesn't print landscape.

By definition, 12 wide and 8 high is Landscape,

If the OP wants 12 x 8 paper in portrait orientation, then swapping the width and height will give that:

I can't do this Doug. As I wrote, I must use Portrait mode with my printer for mechanical reasons.
I must insert my blank business cards with the shorter side parallel with the direction of movement of the cards into the printer.

With WORD 2003, there's no problem with the document I use for my business cards.
Portrait mode causes the printer to print the lines perpendicular to the direction of the movement of the sheet into the printer.
The sizes of each side of the page in Word mustn't change this.

This seems no longer to be the case with Word 2010.
Word 2010 "Orientation" notion has no longer the same fonction as "Orientation" notion in Word 2003.
Word 2010 takes the initiative of a 90 ° rotation of the document into the printer that Word 2003 doesn't.

That's what I don't understand.

I see exactly the same behavior in Word 2003

However, can you achieve what you are after by saving the document in pdf format and then rotate it in Adobe Reader to print it.

Unless I'm missing something, or my Word 2003 isn't exactly the same as yours, I can't agree Doug.

What I do in Word 2003 :

When I go back to look, I'm still in portrait mode :

Instead of my professional software Word 2010, I've got the solution to use my personal software Word 2003 for my business cards.
