Track changes and change user name

Hi everyone

I received a document with track changes on. As expected, the changes were red. When I added my text, they were blue (so far, so good). Unfortunately, what seems to have happened is the colours have reversed so now I'm the first author (my changes are in red) and the original editor's tracks are in blue.

Now my text is purple (as a third editor). I have added other names in the "change user name" in the track changes box to try and fix it. That's made things worse. There are now five reviewers.

Question: Can the reviewers added through the "change user name" be deleted so I am back to square one? No additional names.

Any help appreciated with this.

When you enable "By Author" for tracking colors, you give up all control over the colors used. As long as the color used for your changes is different from those used by other editors, Word is working as designed.

If you accept all the changes (and delete all the comments) made in the names of the added reviewers, you may be able to remove those reviewers. Then revert to the user name you started with and be content with whatever color you are currently assigned. Just don't refer to colors in any comments you make about the markup.
