Microsoft Word Will Not Open

Word in Office 2013 won't open and won't open in safe mode, but excel works perfectly fine.
Please provide more detail on "won't open." How are you trying to open it? What happens when you do? Do you get an error message?

I go to the start menu, and click on word and this window pops up. "Word couldn't start last time. Safe mode could help you troubleshoot the problem, but some features might not be available in this mode.

Do you want to start in safe mode?"

 

I clicked on yes, then a new window comes up saying, "word failed to start in safe mode. do you want to start repair?

 

I clicked yes, then a window comes up saying, this action is only valid for products currently installed.

Okay, let's clarify what version you have; your "Applies to" says Word 2010, but your post says Office 2013. Which is it?

Are you opening Word from a shortcut on the Start menu, Desktop, or Taskbar (or whatever their equivalents are in Windows 8), or are you trying to start it by double-clicking on a Word document? If the latter, then your problem may be just damaged file associations; see this post.

I have no idea.... but I do know, that I cannot open any powerpoint documents from the internet, but my friend can on his laptop.  I'm on my professors site, because he posted his powerpoint which has his notes on it, and everyone can open and view it, except for me

If your issue is with PowerPoint presentations then you need to post in the PowerPoint forum.

I'll figure it out on my own....

The problem is ALSO with Word, but I just found out it is now with powerpoint too!
