Insert Hyperlink Default Browser

When I select "Insert Hyperlink" in Word 2010 and select the "Browse the Web" button to select an address, Google Chrome pops up instead of IE 10.

I'm sure this happened when I installed Chrome for testing web pages in multiple browsers, but I want to use IE 10 inside Word to select hyperlink addresses.

YES ... I have selected IE as my default browser in Control Panel for all apps.

I've seen this question asked in a number of forums. Nobody has answered it yet.

Microsoft!!! Google is beating your time because they provide better support. They replaced your browser and nobody on your team seems to know how to reverse it in your own products!!

I solved the problem changing the regedit. I can teack you if you already used it cause it's not good change anything there if you do not know what you are doing.

I use Regedit all the time. I suspected that there was something in there that had to be changed but after searching for a while, I decided not to go modifying things without knowing more about it.

Yes, I'd like to know what you have discovered.

Thanks, Suzanne, but I did that already. It's the first thing I tried.

That is the answer that you see frequently in forums where this question is asked, but it's the answer to a different question. In the case of inserting a hyperlink address using the "Browse" button, Windows is not opening a file, so the defaults that are set here don't do anything to solve this problem.

Hi Dan,

Have you tried uninstalling the Chrome browser?

In case you are not using it try uninstalling and check if it helps to resolve this issue.

Thank you.
