How to make Drop Cap Point Size Consistent

In implementing drop cap in Word 2010, I've found that a "W" is at a point size of 41.5 while a "B" (and all other letters) is at a point size of 33.5.   I specified the drop caps to be 2 lines.  The body font size is 11-points.  The font I'm using is Plantagenet Cherokee.  I have line spacing at Multiple 1.05 lines.

Because the "W" is at a greater point size, it is ignoring the 2 lines specified and is actually 3 lines.

How do I fix?

Thanks

Rick

Can you not just change the point size of the W?

With the cursor in the paragraph that starts with W, go (again) to the Insert > Drop Cap > Drop Cap Options dialog. I think you'll find that the "Lines to drop" box is set to 3. Change it to 2 and click OK.

When I set dropped caps, I find that I have to change that setting from 3 to 2 for each dropped cap -- it isn't a "sticky" setting.

You can record a macro of clicking Insert > Drop Cap > Drop Cap Options, clicking the Dropped button and setting "Lines to drop" to 2, and clicking OK. Assign that macro to a Quick Access Toolbar button or a keyboard shortcut. Thereafter, use the macro to create dropped caps.

Trust me, I've made sure several times that the Lines To Drop was at 2.

And yes I tried changing the point size of the W.  And while one can change the point size of the W, it really does not work in that it messes with the placement of the W such that the top of the W is below the first line.

I've done more testing since I initially posted and seem to have a solution.  Seems as though the problem occurs only when the paragraph is only 2 lines.  If I fake out Word to add some dummy words to get to 3 lines, then do the drop caps command, then delete the dummy words, the W will stick at drop of 2 lines.

Thanks for your help

Rick

I'm having this problem also but with Garamond on both W and I regardless of the number of lines in the paragraph.

EACH time you insert a dropped cap, you MUST access the Drop Cap Options and set the number of lines to 2 if that is the amount by which you want the Cap dripped.

W and I actually start out at 4 lines even though is set to 3.  The letter size is 3 but the number indented is 4.  When I change the number of lines to 2, the letter size goes to 2 but the number of lines indented is 3.  The other letters I have tried go to letter size 2 and indented line 2 when the number of lines is set to 2.
